what do you mean changing pad? For the changing table? YES they are needed? Where would you change them otherwise?

Re: Changing Pad???
Yeah, but it provides extra cushioning. Plus you are going to need to set up a changing station with supplies, whether it be an actual changing table, the top of a dresser or another type of table. I wouldn't want to regularly do it on a bed. What about an accident? Then you are changing the entire bed too.
Downstairs I have my full changing table (in DR) because most diaper changes throughout the day occur there and upstairs I just have a pad on top of the dresser. All of the diapers and supplies are in the top drawer.

You can, but you'll regret it the first time they pee on your couch or bed!
Plus it's much more secure and comfortable for them on a changing pad, plus, as Theresa said, you'll want a little station with all your supplies.
It makes things much easier. I have one upstairs and one downstairs.

Re: Changing Pad???
I use mine every day, several times a day. Definitely a necessity.

Re: Changing Pad???
I use my changing table for every changing unless we are out, so I would say yes, it's necessary

Re: Changing Pad???
Also - I think some time of changing table would be good - cause not for nothing - when you don't have one and you have a c-section - you need to be standing up to change the kids diaper - you can lean over too much or even get up and down from the floor
