You're doing good!!!
My FH took it for a while and it was working really well. He stopped because it was bothering his stomach too much... but I've only ever heard good thing.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

My DH took it. Worked wonders. difficult the first month then he was ok.
He actually stopped the pills after a month and a half. but he is almost 6 months smoke free now..
still has cravings, but less than once a day!

Re: Chantix- Anyone here use this to stop smoking?
My husband used Chantix and hasn't had a single cigarette since March.
He still smoked in the beginning, and tried to cut back a little each week. By the time he was ready to order the 3rd prescription (6-8 weeks maybe??), he stopped smoking completely.
He stopped drinking alcohol in the beginning too, because that was a big trigger. By May he was drinking again with absolutely no desire for a cigarette.
Now he finds the smell so offensive. (Much to my relief).
He's doing really well now and I'm very proud of him and happy for him.

Alcohol and the ciggs definitely go hand and hand.
I used to come home from work every night and have 2 glasses of wine...
Now I have no desire to even drink at all.
So far all is good. I'm suprised that I am not having really bad cravings.
Thanks goodness this is working
Thanks for the replies everyone!

A close friend of mine used it and has been smoke free for a few months now. It did bothered her stomach but she said that it was worth it. Good luck to you!

Check with your insurance too if they will cover Chantix. I work in the pharmacy and some insurance do not cover it.

I quit smoking, using Chantix in May. I smoked 2 packs a day and by the 6th day on the Chantix, I was DONE. DH still smokes and even with seeing him smoke often, I still have no cravings. Good Luck!! You'll do great!

Re: Chantix- Anyone here use this to stop smoking?
Thanks for everyone's reply and encouragement.
I am definitely sticking to it!
How ironic is this... I just heard on the TV this morning that one of the news channels is doing a special report on Chantix and says it could be dangerous.
UGHHHHHHHHHH
I really haven't had any side effects from it and it is working for me so unless they say it causes cancer I'm staying on it!

Re: Chantix- Anyone here use this to stop smoking?
I read an article in People magazine recently that people were complaining about wierd and sometimes violent dreams.
From what I gathered from the article (I can't remember exact details so I could be misrepresenting the article, but...), a man was taking it, had these crazy dreams, went into a violent rage after a night of drinking, was mistaken by a neighbor for an intruder and was shot and killed.
So the Chantix didn't kill him, but the family is blaming the whole episode on Chantix because if he wasn't taking it, he never would have flipped out.
The article did not say if this person was on any other medication at the time or had any other drugs in his system, so there are a lot of open questions regarding this.
I asked my husband if he had dreams like that and he said no, not that he recalled.

Re: Chantix- Anyone here use this to stop smoking?
is this prescription?
I've been thinking about quitting after my surgery in Nov (plus we'd want to TTC).
I was going to try over-the-counter stuff first, but if this really works, may just do this

Yes, you need a prescription.
I just checked with my husband about the cost. It wasn't covered by our insurance. It was $125 for 4 weeks, and you take it for up to 12 weeks.
People respond differently to the treatment. My husband was smoking almost a pack a day, more on the weekends. He stuck with the treatment for 8 weeks. By the time he was ready to fill the prescription the 3rd time, he quit completely. Other people were able to quit in less time.
Good luck to you!
