chapter 13 bankruptcy paying off early and credit report
haven't posted in quite some time. you can look up my old post if you feel like it
Anyway filed for chapter 13 with a plan to pay back all my debt (the chapter 13 did not include house or a car loan I had then) . Long story short a year later I was able to get the money to pay all the debt I owed in the chapter 13 so I paid it all off in full. Meaning all the money I owed to the debtors was given to them.
The question I have is how should this be shown on my credit report? Is there a way for creditors to see I filed then just a year later I paid it off in full?
I am very confused if it is being shown correctly on my credit report or not.
I have tried to google the answer but nothing is 100% clear.
Also when should the chapter 13 drop off on my credit report? Most things I read says it takes about 7 years but this accounts for people who take 3-5 years to pay it back. Since I paid it back much earlier than that does it come off earlier?
I would just ask the lawyer I used but he wasn't very good nor clear when I asked questions and it was a few years ago now.
I am really looking into this more because there has been talk about refinancing or selling my house and buying a different one and I realized that this bankruptcy may prevent me from being able too.
If no one can answer this where can I go to get an answer; do I really need to find a lawyer and hire them just to get clarification on this?

I would speak to either a financial advisor or another bankruptcy attorney that can guide you through this. My understanding of bankruptcy is that it won't be removed from your credit report until a certain amount of time has elapsed. Since trying to change anything on your credit report can be a difficult process, it's best to speak with a professional. Good luck!

It should show as Ch 13 Discharged, which means it has been satisfied. It would say when you filed and when it was discharged. Most liens and BK stay on a credit report for 7 years. I wouldn't bother hiring a lawyer to answer these questions. And credit repair doesn't get rid of a BK.

A bankruptcy will stay on your credit report for the full amount of time. It's a matter of public record, regardless of how and when the debts end up paid off.

Bankruptcy stays on your report for 10 years. Even though you paid back early it still remains there. With that being said the bankruptcy should not prevent you from buying another house.
