Cheap granite countertops (remnants?)
Where would someone go to find remnants of granite for countertops? Home Depot? Lowe's? A contractor?
Is it worth the hassle? I imagine you have to take it home yourself.
Will a place cut remnants for someone? I'm guessing no but just curious.
Thanks!

I would try a local store that sells it rather than a big box store. You may have better luck there. Let us know how it works out!

Re: Cheap granite countertops (remnants?)
I see people buying them on house flipping shows- so they must be out there
call some places- try the good old fashion yellow pages! I bet you find a bunch!
edited to add- def not "big boxes" lowe's or home depot- small mom and pop type places

Re: Cheap granite countertops (remnants?)
Almost any granite place will have remnants. They sell them cheaper because they are usually not enough to do an entire kitchen counter (you need a slab for that). They will still do the measuring, cutting and installing.

Re: Cheap granite countertops (remnants?)
go to a granite yard - they are the ones with the remnants - not HD or Lowes.
There are some in Farmingdale and Deer Park

they still need to measure & custom fabricate it & install it. It saves some money because the material is reduced in price, but the fees they charge for their service is the same. Often the flip shows use granite tiles for counters-much cheaper & can be done DIY if your really handy. There's a granite place in Wantaugh called "a cut above" that always had great prices.

Re: Cheap granite countertops (remnants?)
I was talking to a place in Farmingdale that does it -- I think that's what I'm going to do. My kitchen is really easy so that works to my benefit.
Skip Home Depot. Not sure if they do it and I got a high quote for a new slab from them.
