Cheapest car rental for Orlando?
What car companies are cheapest for Orlando? We're going the second week in Feb and I am shopping around for the best rates.

Re: Cheapest car rental for Orlando?
It's different all the time. in the last 3 years, we used 3 different ones- enterprise (which is off site- need to take a shuttle), dollar and last year was Alamo. Also, DH checked the rates here and there for a couple of weeks, and one day, alamo's price just dropped to half of what it was, so we booked it right away- the next day, it was back up again (so, similar to airfare in that sense).
Most employers (as well as AAA) also offer discounts, so compare it with those, too.

I usually use Hotwire to find the rates at every company, then book directly with whichever is least expensive.

I go to Mousesavers. Check their CAR RENTAL links and it gives you coupons for all the companies in MCO. THEN I sit for about 1/2 an hour and try them all. OR go to the Transportation board on Disboards and see what codes people are using. THEN I check the rates all the time before I go because they go up and down a lot.

Thanks everyone. Right now it looks like Dollar is cheapest, and they are in the airport so that would be easy...I'll keep checking! Thank you!

Re: Cheapest car rental for Orlando?
We've used both Dollar and Enterprise.
I preferred Dollar since it was at the airport and didn't seem to be as crowded as Enterprise (and we used Dollar during President's week as compared to Enterprise during the first week of December).
ETA - If you belong to BJs or Costco you can get discounts through their websites.

Re: Cheapest car rental for Orlando?
I rented at enterprise last time in Florida. I picked the car up in Tampa and returned it to Orlando. Unfortunately they didn't tell me that the enterprise in Orlando was located offsite of the airport. It is definately good that you got a place on site. We were in Orlando in September.
