Re: cheapest place for paint

There really isn't a cheap place for BM. It's expensive paint and it's only carried at select paint stores, not in stores like Home Depot.

Try Behr if you want a less expensive option. We were going to buy BM but couldn't find the color we wanted and they couldn't match it, and I love the way my rooms look.

Aboff's sometimes has coupons on its website, or in the Pennysaver

I was going to suggest this, too. I got all of mine from Janovic in Manhattan when I bought the house. Are there any Janovic's out here?

Re: cheapest place for paint

I think there's a Jancovic on 106/107 in Hicksville.

I also use Chromopaint in Hicksville.

I bought Behr paint for my laundry room and hallway. So far I like it.

It's way cheaper than BM even though I like BM too.

We've always used Behr's paint and never have had any problems with it. I don't even know where to get BM sorry.

I've used paint from Lowe's and Home Depot and everytime I had to paint three coats to get full saturation of color, and I'm an experienced painter... over 35 rooms paintedChat Icon So I wind up buying more paint.

While BM is more per gallon the room always gets done faster. What you are spending in money, you are saving in time and you often havce to use less paint because it covers so much better in less coats.

Remember, prep and priming is very important. Poor prep work can cause the paint not to adhere properly.

good luck.

I totally agree. We've tried Valspar because of Consumer Reports a few years ago and it hasn't held up nearly as nice as BM. BM is pretty set with prices no matter where you go. It's expensive but worth it.

Re: cheapest place for paint

We just finished the walls in our laundry room. We used a Behr paint. I think I like it, but I have used BM before and I think there really is a difference..

We will have to paint 2 coats.

We are using all BM paint and bought it from a BM store, I found a coupon for $4 off every gallon in one of those coupon clipper magazines, so try and keep your eyes open for those.

Also, since we purchased alot of paint the guy at the store said he would've given us the discount even if we didn't have the coupon, so you can always just try asking for the discount.

Re: cheapest place for paint

I went to the BM store near us and asked politely if we got a volume discount- I was buying 12 gallons.

They gave me 7 to 10 dollars off each gallon depending on how much it was. So it doesn't hurt to ask if you buying more than a few gallons.

I agree that the extra money is worth it-it just covers so nicely.
