Cheapest Place to Buy Paint and Curtians/Blinds? (A milion questions)
So, we're lucky that the new house is pretty good to go and doesn't need many improvements.
We are going to paint the master bedroom, probably Benjamin Moore paint. what stores has that at the best price? And how do we know how much we need? Bedsides paint trays, a little paintbrush and a roller one, is there any other supplies we'll need?
And the house has no window coverings at all, not even a hole to put any up! I REALLY want blinds (those honeycomb kind that are fabric and like double?) but I'm assuming they're pricier than curtains. Are they easy enough to do it yourself or should we get them installed? What part of the window do you measure from? (we tried to do that and were totally clueless!)
Are the curtains that Target have ok or should we go to a better store? Are they the lowest price? BBB too. What about the hardware? And will it come with its own screws? Can we make the holes in the wall to hang them with a regular screwdriver or should we get an automatic one? Do we make the holes then put the hardware in or do we do it all at once?
Sorry for all of the "duh" questions but neither of us have ever had to do anything like this before ad it all seems so overwhelming!!!

I second Marburn. They have a great selection there and very reasonable. They also have hardware. I don't know where your house is but besides the one in Carle Place, there is one in Huntington on 110 and in Hauppauge on 347.
I'm not sure what type of blinds you are talking about but blinds can be very expensive. We had an estimate done and it was A LOT. I just have basic ones now from Target that were like $4.
As far as paint...BM only sells in certain stores and they don't negotiate on the price. So no matter where you find BM paint, figure it's about the same everywhere else. We use Bak & Vogel in Lindenhurst.
In terms of supplies, when we paint, we get everything you mentioned plus dust cloths, paint tape to protect moulding and plastic sheets to block off doorways. My DH used to be a painting contractor so it gets a bit involved with him. If you and your DH won't be sanding and spackling and all of that, you can forgo the plastic sheets. Measure the rooms you are painting prior to going to buy the paint and the people at the paint store will tell you exactly what you need. HTH

Marburn for curtains
I wouldn't go cheap on the paint go with Benjamin Moore or Janovick. Cheap paint will need to be painted more often

We have always found great deals on window treatments at JC penny home store. The good thing about BBB is that you can use the 20% off coupons.
As for paint, we love Sherwin Williams. We tried BM when we were first painting our house and it was ok. We tried BM, Pratt and Lambert and SW. SW was our favorite by far and now that is all we use. They have sales sometimes too, which is nice. We just painted our nursery and 30% off the paint.
ETA: about installing the blinds - a drill will make your life a lot easier. Its worth the extra money, you will be able to use it for many projects around the house.

i always buy BM at aboffs. if you are unsure as to what supplies to purchase, ask the store associates.
in re to the window treatments, my best advice is to shop around to compare selection, quality and prices. they are different ways to measure (inside/outside mount) and install. search the internet for tips and recommendations.
good luck and congrats!!!

Re: Cheapest Place to Buy Paint and Curtians/Blinds? (A milion questions)
Sorry for not replying!!!
We went w/Behr paint, a pretty green color. I told DH several times I want Ben Moore, then we're at Home Depot and he's like, "They only sell that at a few stores, like just Sears" OK thanks for telling me LOL So I just went w/a rand I'd heard of. WE chose a color and had them mix it. Anyway, this paint is working fine but it was torture painting!!! No more for us!
We also got curtains at BBB on clearance, 1/2 off that then we had the 20% coupon! They have fairly cheap waffle blinds too. The issue is that our front window is extra long - 126" and most rods just go to 122". And most rods look so cheap and junky!! But that cutrain place Marburn did have some nicer ones.. great prices too. Thanks so much for the suggestion!
We're still on the hunt, but ifeel soooo much more in contol!!
Thank you all for your help!!

BM is only sold at certain stores but not sears.
my LR windows are 140". the longest expandable wood rod that i could was 144". i think the size was 72 - 144". i bought at lowes. they surprisingly have a very decent selection.

You can also use 2 wood rods. That's what we did in my LR.
