Check out this listing on Craigslist
Would you ever trust someone from this site since that girl got murdered recently?
Would you ever use such a service?

Re: Check out this listing on Craigslist
For some reason, I can't attach it. We have been having computer virus issues lately.
But anywhoo, it is an ad for a Behavioral Interventionist to come into your home to work with your family like "The SuperNanny". The poster said thet he/she has a BS in Psych and a Masters In Education. This person teaches the parents new techniques and strategies to handle all issue, tantrums, whinning, etc..
What are you thoughts??

Re: Check out this listing on Craigslist
I don't see a link but I can say that I am not very trusting when it comes to craigslist (yet I still browse it sometimes).
ETA: Okay now I read your second post. I would certainly try other avenues before getting someone from craigslist for that type of service. There are a lot of qualified people who do this type of work and there may even be free services through the county or low cost through insurance. Is the person on craigslist a known authority in the field, or anything like that? No matter where I find professional services, I tend to look up the person's credentials. I investigate whether they have lawsuits, etc.

Re: Check out this listing on Craigslist
I am pretty sure that Liza does that. it might even be her post. I dont think I would be against it at all. Sounds like crisis intervention not supernanny. They use it for children with many different developmental disabilites especially autism which uses ABA. I dont think I would be opposed bc the person is most likely at your home on the hrs when you are there BUT I havent read the ad so I am unsure if there is more to the ad.

OK...re-read...the person is claiming to do work like 'supernanny"? Can you copy and paste?

Re: Check out this listing on Craigslist
I'm not opposed to something like that just because it is on CL. I would ask for references, credentials, do a background check, etc. before inviting that person into my home. I would probably meet in a VERY public place for the first time. I think the majority of people that create ad's on there are normal people looking for work and the few bad apples ruin it for everyone.

Re: Check out this listing on Craigslist
I am personally very leary of things like craigslist. Some people have said that they've found babysitters/nannys through craigslist and personally that would freak me out.

Re: Check out this listing on Craigslist
I'm always skeptical about strangers but I don't think it's much different then using a service as long as you approach it the right way. I was lucky enough to find my nanny on Craigslist. I interviewed her in a public place for both of our protection. I then checked all her references and ran my own background check. Regardless of where you find a nanny, they are all going to be a stranger at first. All agencies do is run background checks. They don't do more then an initial interview as well.
