Chesty Cough in 7mth old...Ped or not?

Chesty Cough in 7mth old...Ped or not?
My 7 month old has had a runny nose for a week now and just this morning developed a chesty cough where he is gasping a little to catch his breath, should I call the ped or not? No fever.
Can they give him anything?
DD has the same thing ( thats where he got it from) and she had a fever over the weekend but its gone now. I am giving her cough medicine at night just to help her sleep as her cough was waking her up.
Its going on well over a week now in this house.
What do you think?

Anything in the chest makes me nervous. I would call the ped just to be on the safe side. Even if it's nothing it would ease my mind to know his lungs are clear.

Thanks - you are probably right. I will put a call in and see if they can see him. Monday is such a bad day at the peds office but fingers crossed.
