what is the purpose of that
update: made without chia and delicious and easy! what a great breakfast option. i had intended on eating it hot, as that's how i like oatmeal (don't you lol) but it was delicious cold.
used oats, almond milk, cinammon, maple syrup and honey (yes very sweet)

chia in overnight oats?
They have tons of fiber & protein in a small amount, so it's supposed to help you feel fuller longer, which helps lose weight. Also, they are supposed to promote brain health & bone nutrients - they're considered a superfood. I personally, can't get over the texture of them LOL

I put it in mine. It also helps thicken the oats.

It's not a necessity. If you don't have it and want to make the oats ,don't run out special. But it is a good addition with lots of health benefits - if you can get some in the future.

I acutally like my oats on the thicker side, so I add more oats and less almond milk. But that is a preference. My recipe is the oats, chia seeds, almond milk, low sugar jelly, and I add peanut butter and a mushed banana.

Re: chia in overnight oats? update success!
You can also add protein powder to the mixture for more protein/to make it more filling

yes! i've learned that adding unflavored protein powder and/or nut butters gives me a more filling, longer lasting meal.
so glad that you liked this new way of having oatmeal!!

100% loved them! i enjoyed the texture too. Too bad you don't enjoy the texture, you could add this to your oatmeal repertoire! LOL! I'm vegetarian so this is so up my alley

Re: chia in overnight oats? update success!
Thanks so much for posting this! Reading about overnight oats made me crave them so I made it for breakfast/lunch twice so far and am in love. I have a huge sweet tooth so I put oats, lactose free chocolate milk, splash of vanilla, a little honey and a tsp of peanut butter. Don't know how healthy it is LOL but HOLY CRAP! So yummy!

wow cool!!! so glad!! i love them too and turned my brother and sister in law onto it and they loved it also! we also have huge sweet teeth lol. it's def like a dessert. i put some blackberry preserves on top of mine and oh boy its like a pie!
and how easy is it to have your breakfast/lunch prepped and ready to eat the day before!
i also can't speak to the nutrition of it but i know the oats are heart healthy at least! there may be dietitians on here who could enlighten us.
