"Chic" attire for 16 yr old boy?

My 16 yr old step son was invited to a sweet 16 party at a catering hall. The invitation requests "chic attire". What the heck is that these days? Chat Icon

Give me a freakin' break - Now Sweet 16 invitations have a dress code listed?

Where is the party?

My sons are still only 3 & 5 but I'd say you're safe with dark pants or khakis, a button down and a tie. Depending on his own personal style, he can dress that look up or down.

(ie: my 5 year old likes to look like a senator, and my 3 year old prefers the rock star look - Chat Icon) Either way though, I get them in shirts and ties.

Or, ask him to ask his friends what they're wearing .......or do boys not do that? Chat Icon

This is what I was going to suggest. My younger brother is 16 and he usually wears black pants, a button down shirt and a tie to those parties.

That's pretty much what I thought, but not sure if that was "chic" enough Chat Icon . It's at Fox hollow (And my SS is more like your 5 yr old - he loves to get dressed up so he has plenty of shirts, ties etc.)
