child custody lawyer
looking for a recommendation for a friend of mine - she is having problems with the ex regarding their daughter, he seems to think because he pays the mother child support he doesn't have to do anything else - the latest is he wants her to pay for clothes that will remain at his house for when she stays there - she feels as her father he should buy them - personally I have no clue but she is looking to get a lawyer that is going to help her in the courts abt all the craziness that is going on can anyone recommend a lawyer that isn't going to break the bank and actually help her - her last one took $10k and did nothing...
TIA

Is she divorced? She could just file a petition in family court

Unless it states that in the support order she doesnt have to cater to his demands. Let him ask the court for that, he'll be laughed right out of there.
She only needs a lawyer for this if he chooses to bring her to court over this. She should stick to her guns and continue to say no to his demands.

If it's not too far (and she decides she still wants an attorney) , Bridget Tartaglia in St. James is awesome

Re: child custody lawyer
Child support should go towards her clothes, but I doubt gets giving enough to supply two separate wardrobes. She can either bring the clothes back and forth, or he can go get some additional things to keep at his house. Or if she wants to play nice, she can maybe supply a couple outfits to be left there, but they shouldnt be bought specifically for that- just a few older tee shirts, shorts, leggings, pajamas should be sufficient.

ITA.
DH's ex would send a going to and a going home outfit for SD. We out of our own expense bought her clothes for her visits. It was written in their order that the mother was to provide clothes etc.. for the visit but he had to make sure they were all returned. She was crazy and took him to court over a winter hat that fell out of the bag in the car. So we eliminated the drama and got our own. Unless he's willing to take your friend to court, then he doesnt have the right to make demands.

Maybe it's just me but I think this its petty to fight over clothes for their daughter? Why wouldn't they want to either have clothes stay at his house or have the child pack an overnight bag? Unless this is just one demand among many others..which could be possible.

Re: child custody lawyer
I just pack my daughter a bag with clothes for her weekends at her dads. She knopws to bring everything home with her. I dont have to use my child support to buy clothes for his house...and since he refuses to go out and buy things for his home, I just have her pack a bag. She is 9 now, and we have been divorced since she was 2. It works just fine. She doesnt need a lawyer, unless he decided to take her to court for this - which they will just laugh at anyway.

I think she needs one too, with my ex we had something similar, except my DD wanted to bring her own clothes and ex won't let her and now everything is an issue. Better to take care of it now then later after a few things pop up. Right now his new wife won't her bring her own bag, this is how petty people can be. Meanwhile my DD is stuck in the middle all over a bag. If only i could go back and clearly right things out in agreement that i didn't think about at the time. Who knew that i would be fighting over clothes and a bag years later.
