Child-less couples
There was a story on channel 11 news on Monday night. I meant to write about it yesterday but then I totally forgot. They were saying how these child-less famililies are sick of everyone trying to change thier minds about having children. It was very interesting and it made me think of a thread from last week.
Apparantly, there is an organization and it is really big here in New York. Unfortuantely, I forgot the name of the organization.

Re: Child-less couples
That's really great, actually. There are many people who don't want children for one reason or another and they should never be made to feel bad about it. What kind of life does a child who was never really wanted have? There are way too many unwanted children in the world, why force people who readily admit that they don't want them to have them.

I didnt see that story, but I read an article in newsday a few weeks back addressing the same topic. The mentioned this organization that sets up meetings, dinners, parties, vacations......you name it, for childless couples. It sounded really interesting.

Re: Child-less couples
My sister and her husband are a childless couple and want to be and we all think that is great because that is what they want out of life. Everyone else in the family loves to hear about their trips all over the world. They really live it up and don't feel a need for children and everyone respects them for that. HOwever, she has told me that sometimes her mommy friends make her feel bad about it. Not intentionally but just things they say sometimes.
I think they do get some questions from other people, which bothers them, but our family never questions it. I think whatever makes a couple work is what is best for that couple.

What a concept, letting people make decisions for themselves!
Well, the story annoyed me a little because some of the couples made it seem as if people who do have children only have them because they feel expected to have children.
That is not my reason at all. I want children because I want a family. I feel like something is missing, and I know that it is a child. Not because I am told that now I have to have children. Maybe some people have children because they feel they have to follow the "course" but that is the wrong reason. And we don't all feel that way

I know what you mean. If people have children, I think it is wonderful and same for people that do not as long as the decision is YOURS!

Re: Child-less couples
I would if I didnt have any couples to relate to. But out of all the couples I hang out with, only one has a child.
