Re: Children's Books
2 of my favorites are:
"Oh, Baby, the Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss (is actually to be read to baby in utero ... such a sweet story!!)
"Guess How Much I Love You" by Sam Mcbratney

Re: Children's Books
For my friend's shower, I got her the complete set of Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit series. It came in a cute white box. I think Amazon has it for like $100, but you can also try e-bay.

The Baby Einstein book, Mirror Me, is also very cute.

Re: Children's Books
These are for an older baby, but maybe you want to get a mix of stuff.
Sarah really likes the "Happy Baby" series which we got at BRU. She will sit for 20 minutes and flip through them looking at the pictures and babbling to me about them.
Also anything with pages or things that flip or have things to touch (like the "fur" on a teddy bear or the "grass" in the field)
