Children's trailer bicycles RECALL

For those who use children trailers bicycles that attach to an adult bicycle.



WASHINGTON, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Pacific Cycle on Tuesday recalled 7,000 Chinese-made children's trailer bicycles because they can detach unexpectedly from the adult's lead bicycle, the U.S. Consumer and Product Safety Commission said.

The recalled bicycles include the InStep "Pathfinder," Schwinn "Runabout" and Mongoose "Alley Cat" trailer bicycles.

The CPSC said Madison, Wisconsin-based Pacific Cycle has received one report of the coupler connection failing, resulting in a fall and abrasions to the rider.

The bicycles were sold at bicycle stores and retailers nationwide from January through August 2007 for between $80 and $120.

The CPSC said consumers should stop using the trailer bicycle immediately and contact Pacific Cycle at (877) 564-2261 for a free repair kit.
