Re: Child's eyes???
I don't know if it's normal or not, but since your DS was early I would think that he needs time to "catch up". My DD was 2 1/2 weeks early and the Dr.'s said that you have to subtract that time in regarding the milestones since she needed the time to "cook" a bit longer.
If you are concerned, I'd call your peditrician.

Re: Child's eyes???
YES, Bryan's eyes took almost 3 months to completely straighten out- I was sooo worried and all over the internet of course- I read that baby's eyes can cross or drift for 4 months and that be normal.Bryan's seemed to did this like all the time- he always looked cross eyed in the beggining- the poor guy! My doc scared me also saying that Bryan might have a lazy eye if it didnt straighten on it own. But they got better and better and eventually stopped and they were fine around 3 months.

Re: Child's eyes???
My girls were 2 1/2 months early and for the 1st 6 months they didn't have good control over their eye muscles and they would go cross sometimes. I have been taking them to the eye doc since birth so he can watch them. Now Reese has total control over the muscles and is never cross and Sydney has almost total control occasionaly when she is tired her eye goes in. Her eyes have gotten so much better so the doc is going to watch her for 1 more month and if it doesn't improve she will get surgery to correct. If you want the name of the eye doc we go to FM me.

Re: Child's eyes???
Alex had that as well... there are two forms of lazy eye, and both are common in newborns - cross eyes where the eye drifts inward, and lazy eyes where the eye drifts outward. Alex had the case where her eye drifted outward, which sometimes is a little more concerning so our pediatrician sent us to a specialist. She still had it at about 5 months, so the specialist had us patch her good eye a few times a week so the muscles in the weak eye got stronger. It eventually went away on its own, and even the specialist assured us that it really isn't a problem unless it persists past one year...

Caiden had that. His left eye was lazy for a few months. It does go away. I worried as well, but it's completely normal! Connor never had this. Both of my kids are so different!

Re: Child's eyes???
my friend's son had this too (he was not early), but it got better as he got older. I'd say from about 11-12mos on it was fine. But I'd go to the dr just to be sure.
