Re: Chinese New Year Projects?
We ordered food for tomorrow, I have parents coming in and we'll be doing: chinese numbers and how to write them, make dumplings, use tangrams, read lunar new year stories and some other crafts.

Re: Chinese New Year Projects?
I am spoiled because my classroom aide is Chinese and she is going all out for us. She is making home made spring rolls, noodles and dumplings. The kids will get to make some of their own too. She is also showing them how to write their names in Chinese. A Chinese teacher in my building does a whole New Year parade with her kids and they come and visit each classroom with their routine.

Re: Chinese New Year Projects?
we use glitter glue and straws on black paper. the kids make "fireworks" by blowing the glue around. then they write a poem about it.

Re: Chinese New Year Projects?
you can bring math into it and read Grandfather Tang's Story (amy Tompert) and have them do tangrams.
also you can do chinese new year stations/centers: zodiac/years (determine what year they were born and if the characteristics apply to them); writing chinese characters; atlas/map work of china
