chipmunks/racoons/squirells/moles - OH MY!!!
SOMETHING has been digging up our backyard. I don't see it or hear it...but I certainly see the holes left behind.
At first I was sure it was the squirells digging up nuts or something as this started when it was colder, but my lawn guy told me the squirells have since moved on to the fresh nuts and aren't digging up old ones anymore.
The holes seem to be congregated in the rear of our yard, but just last week we started seeing the holes in the front.
I don't even know who to call or what to do???
The gardener suggested maybe racoons - but what the heck would they be going after?
Any thoughts?
My nice lawn is turning into a pitted mess. I keep filling the holes but they keep reappearing...ugh!

The gardener said the holes were too big to be grubs - that is what I thought.
Grubs are like worms right and the birds/squirrels dig them up??

LOL, the grubs aren't lifting your lawn. The animals are to get at them.
Otherwise I'd say moles.

We had moles at our last house. They destroyed our lawn.
We tried EVERYTHING to get rid of them...of course at this point I cannot remember what actually worked.

My grandmother had this problem at her condo. She had moles.
I think if you throw down moth balls into the holes, it make the animals go away.
I think!

They are probably moles. I hear they go after the grubs which is a good thing, but also ruin the lawn at the same time. So, Im sure its moles you have. They are everywhere! LOL

If you have tunnels with the holes then you have moles. They are eating the grubs and worms in your lawn. You need to put down grub control to kill the grubs (Scotts is the best). Once the food supply is gone, the moles will leave. If you just have holes, then you have a different problem. A friend of mine had Norwegian Rats (she never lived that down) and needed an exterminator. You could, also, have gophers. There is such a product called a Gopher Gasser. You put it down the hole and it kills them. Home Depot sells it.
