Chips and Dip? Something different?

I know this should probably be on the recipe board but I know this board is busier.
I have been chosen to bring in chips and dip for a party next week. I was thinking potato chips and dip and chips and salsa.
I was wondering if anyone had any good "chips and dip" recipes. It would have to be something cold as I don't have a place to heat it up (other than a microwave) and it will be sitting all day.
Thanks!

Try spinich & artichoke dip!!! You could refrigerate it and then heat it up in the microwave!

cream cheese, chili, and cheddar cheese dip.

spread a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch layer of cream cheese on the bottom of a microwaveable dish. then add a layer of chili (with or without beans, whichever you prefer)...then add a layer of grated cheddar cheese. microwave on high for about 2-3 minutes, depending on your microwave, or until the cheddar cheese is completely melted.

use the dorito scoop chips...(i think that's the name)....mmmmmmm YUMMY!

I do the same but after I add the chili, I add a jar of salsa.

I have a few - I just went through this, I am having a New Years Eve Cocktail Party with appetizers and desserts that Im making pretty much everything. but for some dips here are some, if you are interested FM me and I will give you the recipe.

1. Warm ( microwave) Spinach Parmesan Dip serve with crackers, raw veggies, bread or even the thick salsa chips

2. Seven Layer Dip ( its a mexican dip)
3. Mushroom Pate
4. Mexican- Style Bean Dip
5. Toasted Jalapeno Tomatillo and Watermelon Salsa
6. Green Olive Tapenade
7. Creamy Salsa Dip

these are all really EASY to make and quick, thats why I chose them.

i've seen where they cut a round opening at the top of the loaf, scoop out the insides, and put the dip actually inside the loaf, using it as the serving dish.

They serve the Spinach dip this way in one of the bars I work at. Spinach dip is located inside the loaf of bread. Pretty cool... especially when you can also eat the bread after all the chips are gone. Chat Icon

I make this too, but I thaw the spinach and squeeze out all the excess water before mixing it in.

I also love good old onion dip - mix 1 envelope of Lipton Onion soup mix with a 16 oz container of sour cream. It tastes better if you make it the night before, so the onion pieces soften.

I make basically the same dip but in mine you add Mayo to all the other stuff listed.

It is sooo good!

Edited to add: I am talking about the spinach dip posted, I thought I quoted it!

Re: Chips and Dip? Something different?

the other good way to serve the spinach dip is in hollowed out peppers. You can set the pepper in the center and have bread and veggies arround it but the bread is also great with this.

Re: Chips and Dip? Something different?

want an easy one - i learned this from Harry & David i think:

Cream Cheese and a Sweet Salsa mixed together... its really good.

If you cant find sweet salsa (like a raspberry salsa) you can use regular and add some Jam to it.

Re: Chips and Dip? Something different?

This is the easiest:

Take one jar of salsa and a i think it is an 8oz. velveeta (cut into cubes) put all into a bowl and put in the microwave, as you see it melting stir from time to time and when all the cheese is melted it is time to serve. I serve with the frito corn chip scoops.

PS: I think the recipe is on the velveeta box.

Re: Chips and Dip? Something different?

Try This. Someone at my job made it for a contest and it won best tasting. It's delicious!!!

Cream Cheese & Bacon Wreath

2 pkgs softened cream cheese (8 oz each)
1 jar Hormel Real Bacon Bits
1 Medium Onion, chopped
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Dried Chives (to taste)

Mix above ingredients together and place on a plate. Form a circle around a small glass or use a shot glass.

Refrigerate for several hours.

Before you remove the glass, sprinkle the wreath with dried parsley. Make a ribbon from roasted red pepper. Remove the glass and place any type of cracker you prefer around wreath.

Re: Chips and Dip? Something different?

I have two very easy one's that are always a HUGE hit at my parties:

Bacon Ranch Dip
1 container sour cream
1 pkg Hidden Valley ranch dressing (the envelope)
1 cup cheddar cheese
about 6 strips of bacon cooked, till crispy or 1/8 cup of bacon bits (I haven't used the bacon bits myself, but others have).

Mix the first 3 ingredients together and then crumble in the cooked bacon. Serve with Fritos Scoops and potatoe chips

Creamy Taco Dip
1 container sour cream (room temp)
3/4 container whipped cream cheese (room temp)
1 pkg taco seasoning (the envelope)

Mix all ingredients together until smooth and serve with tortilla chips.

These both are so good!

My mom makes this and it is quite yummy (I had my doubts at first), she just chops tomatoes though. We serve it with Sun Chips.

Thanks everyone! At this very moment, I don't feel like doing anything for this party as it is for my boss and I HATE her right now-lol! I will, of course, do something though.
