Chocolate Truffles - how do I make them look pretty when dipping them in the chocolate?
Every year for the holidays, I make chocolate truffles. I want to make some for DD's christening for the dessert buffet, but they never look that pretty.
After I dip them in chocolate, I put them on wax or parchment paper to set. A lot of the chocolate puddles on the bottom and they wind up looking flat on one side. How do I get them to keep their round shape? What's the trick?

Maybe you can try putting them on a cooling rack with foil below it to catch any dripping chocolate. Maybe that way the excess will drip off and they will be round.
Can you send me your recipe? I love making chocolate but have yet to make truffles.

I don't know if you're up for adding anything, but if you roll the truffle in something (cookie crumbs, nuts, coconut etc...) after dipping in chocolate they'll be very round! i make them at the holidays and it works out great.
Some people roll them in cocoa powder...to me its too bitter, but it's an option as well.
Also...adding a coating makes them look really pretty in my opinion!

IT's REALLY hard - you may not be able to make them. 
1 package oreo cookies
1 8oz. package cream cheese (softened)
1. Finely crush cookies in a food processor into a fine consistency.
2.stir in softened cream cheese. when fully mixed it looks kinda of like mud.
3. Roll the mixture into 1? balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet.
4. Melt chocolate as directed on the package and then dip balls into chocolate,
5. Once dry, refrigerate and enjoy!
This is what the cookies look like after you crush them - no lumps.
They are DELISH!!! and so easy!!

That's a great idea but after I dip them I need to drizzle another color on them - like this. At least for this occasion. I will definitely try the rolling another time.

i usually hold them on a big fork (like a serving fork) and let some extra drip off before i put them on the was paper. i kind of tap the fork ont he side of the bowl with the chocolate to get the extra off. doesn't come out perfect, but it really helps
