chondromalacia patella- or Runner's knee??

I wrote on the board on Monday how i have been having problems with the same knee i had part of my meniscus removed.

They Dr called today and said it looks like a lot of inflammation & i have chondromalacia of the patella? NO really sure what it means...or is. I basically read it is "runner's knee"

Anyone else have this? Did it get better on it's own? The doctor mentioned something about cortisone injections/

I had this last year around this time. Had to go to PT for about 3 months for it and I still have to keep up on doing the exercises, otherwise it starts to bother me again.

Do you run? If so, were you able to run or do cardio shortly afterwards?

Re: chondromalacia patella- or Runner's knee??

I have chondromalacia patella. It's a breakdown of the cartilage in the knees, causing pain.
I still run, sometimes my knees bother me but for the most part as long as I run with good form and land properly and wear the right sneakers, I haven't had a lot of problems.
It's also important to do strengthening exercises to help support your knee joint.
