choosing a doctor....
How did you go about choosing a doctor for your pregnancy?
My reason for asking is i am in the process of changing insurance companies and want to find a gyn/ob that will take GHI. DH and i hope to start trying to get pregnant in a few months, probably toward the fall. No one in my life is PG so i can't ask about doctor reccomendations. Can anyone help? Especially if your doctor takes GHI. Thanks

Re: choosing a doctor....
I picked the hospital first. Then I asked friends for recommendations of their doctors. None of my friends in the city had kids, but if they liked their gyn- that was a good sign.
One friend liked her doctor and he was in one of the 3 hospitals I wanted to deliver in, so I made an appointment 6 months before we started TTC. I had an exam with him and a conference after the exam. I liked his personality and felt comfortable with him. That's how I did it.

Re: choosing a doctor....
I love my Dr. But i dont want to deliver in Plainview. My last daughter was high risk so i was in Manhassett, although the hospital was great, the commute *ucked. So i am also contiplating on what to do with my next pregnancy b/c i do not want to deliver in either of those hospitals. I would like to be closer to home (good Sam). If i have to switch Dr. during my pregnancy then im going to wait until the end so that i can deliver at good sam.
