Christening / Baptism Question
My brother did not receive his confirmation so the catholic church said he can't be the godfather. My question is, what did the godparents actually do at the ceremony? Can't I just get the baby christened and do the godparent thing on our own?
Thanks for your help!

Re: Christening / Baptism Question
You can always find another church to baptize the baby in. Church rules vary by church for some reason. At the church I used to work in, we just required that the Godparent be baptized - and one had to be Roman Catholic.
Having a Godparent has nothing to do with them doing anything at the ceremony. It has to do with them being there to spritually raise your child in the Catholic faith and be a guide in your child's life.

I was just going to say the same thing. Godparents are the spiritual/religious guides in your child's life.
if you want your bro to be godparent, def try another church. My church only required 1 godparent to have fully taken all the sacraments, the other just needs a min of baptism.
Good luck
