Christening cakes
How much did everyone pay for their cakes? I spoke to a bakery that wanted $100...I thought that was alot. Is this the going rate nowadays???
I heard Sams...BJ's and Costco no longer does filling in their cakes...is this true?

Re: Christening cakes
I paid $80 for a large sheet cake. Cannoli filling. Yummmmmmm.
I think Costco still does fillings. At least last time we used them they did.

Re: Christening cakes
We got Kaydyn's christening cake at a bakery for around $100, but we just got a cake for a party a couple of weeks ago from Costco and yes they still do fillings.

Ours comes with an occasion cake or dessert. We're going to bring the cake and get brownie sundaes from the restaurant.

Re: Christening cakes
We used Creat-a-cake for DD#1 and they cake was $125 and totally not worth it. It was not all that pretty and it tasted OK.I have had better sheet cakes from Costco. This time around the cake is included by the restraunt. We were able to choose icing, cake and filling.

Re: Christening cakes
Someone at Sams club said none of them do fillings anymore because of allergies...I thought it sounded weird.

This is what I was thinking...is it really worth it...especially since we'll be having brownie sundaes too.

Re: Christening cakes
I got a large cake for 50 (but probably could have fed 100 with it!) with canoli filling from Benkerts for $75. I gave them a pic of DSs Christening outfit and they made it look just like it.

People probably won't eat a lot of cake if you are having brownie sundaes.

This is what I was thinking. Alot of people don't even eat the cake to begin with. We only have 54 people coming so to spend $100 on a cake that maybe 25 people would eat is crazy.

BJ's does not do fillings on sheet cakes. All the smaller cakes they do fillings.
