Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
And can you tell me how much they cost( approx?)...
Those who did balloons...Did you have someone else do them ( who?) or do them yourself? ( and did you use a helium tank or have a party store fill them? )
Looking for an inexpensive, yet least time consuming centerpiece idea..
No food related ones though, as thats our favors and wouldnt work out.
TIA!!!

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
For DS we did balloons and had the party store fill them...There was too much commotion for us the morning of the christening to worry about filling them, and from what I heard filling them the night before with the tanks you buy is risky ( as far as them drooping)
For DD we just used those honey comb looking ones ( pink cross that opened up)....It was simple and didn't get in anyones way at the tables....
You can also do live plants/flowers which can be relatively inexpensive, or if you are doing lolli-pops ( or something of that nature), you can make a lolli-pop centerpiece

I'd like to do flowers and some balloons..the issues with balloons isthat its a very large room where we are having it and we would kinda need a lot of balloons and I dont know how we'd get them ALL there. LOL ....Party city doesnt deliver (lol) and whose gonna have room for 60+ balloons in there car kwim? And the delivery/balloon centerpiece quote I got seems like a LOT...but I havent price compare dit to doing it myself yet.

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
There is a balloon store in Farmingdale called Balloons n More - it's on Merritts Rd in a shopping center across from CVS and I think Best Yet... There is a big pizza parlor in the shopping ctr too Rose-something?
Anyway - I ordered balloon centerpieces from them for my DHs party - 3 latex balloons, one gigantic mylar balloon - it was $19.95 per CP. They also delivered!! I think you could also get 4 latex balloons and one reg sized mylar for 19.95.
They have a much larger selection than say Party City...
Here's their llink
eta: if you wanted to keep costs down - say you have 10 tables - do the balloons on 5, and low CPs on the other 5...

I did potted plants. I found beautiful pink mums and then planted what was taken home by guests in our back yard.

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
I must be the only cheapo on these boards. I didn't do centerpieces or favors for the Christening. We had it at a regular restaurant and I felt like they would have just crowded up the tables. I had a couple of banners and a few other small decorations and that was it.

We aren't doing either as well. We just didn't think doing favors was worth the extra money (I personally have never even recieved a favor from a christening lol) and our resturant is kind of a nice place with already nice decor - we just didn't feel like it needed it.

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
I bought white ceramic bowls, soil and a couple flats of pink flowers from a gardening center and made the centerpeices. They looked great and were so inevpensive and very easy to make.
ETA: Not a great picture but here are two of them (they were moved around during the meal):

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
I did balloons and attached them to a picture of DS on each table. I got the balloons from Party City and it cost around $70 for 10 tables. I had to tie them in bunches myself and bringing them the restaurant was a pain because it took a couple of trips. I got the frames from the dollar store. Everyone loved the pictures and took them home.

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
I think you saw what we did for Jacks. The flowerpot (turquoise and brown) Val did them. Great price. Filled them with mums.
For Tyler I am doing 6 balloons at each table but instead of curling ribbon they are hanging with tulle. There is a pharmacy right next to the restaurant that blows up balloons so I bought the colors I wanted and brought it to them. They will blow them up and deliver to the restaurant.

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
I ordered flowers (hydrangea) by the stem from bloomsbythebox.com and put several in a mason jar with a satin ribbon tied around the jar. Cost less than $100 for 15-17 tables.

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
Great ideas everyone, thanks so much for all the info.
Normally CP's arent a big deal to me, Iw ouldnt do them if we were at a resturant, but we rented out a Hall type of place and its very large room and would look so empty with just tableclothes, we have to decorate all ourselves.

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
DS's Christening was in September and I love Montauk Daisys, which bloom at that time. I bought a plant for each table, wrapped the pot in white craft paper that I had stamped with blue crosses, and tied a blue ribbon around it. Each centerpiece cost me about $7. And they are perennials, so they'll come back each year for those who took one home.

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
The centerpieces for Nolan's Baby Blessing were $2 each!
Not that I'm cheap... I like to be crafty and resourceful and understated. Plus, hey, more $$ in Nolan's bank acount!
We did a backyard tent party so I went with a natural beachy thing. I garbage picked a neighbors "weathered" stockade fence, the nice slats at least. DH and I made them into boxes/trays with some scrap plywood as the base. I screwed an eye screw (had them) in the bottom, filled them with beach sand (free) and tied two mylar white star balloons to each.
Got the balloons from the $ store. You can pre order them for pick up. I picked up ours the day before so as to not be hectic the day of, since mylars last for weeks (and they did!).
I had chocolate brown real linens on tables and set the favors around each centerpiece, which were simple hand painted clam shells with a crab (Nolan's birth sign) and candy wrapped in tulle (about $6 (the cost of candy) for 50 favors!). Everyone loved them and put them in their gardens!
Like a dope, I never took a before pic of the tables set up!
I'm sure, not what you're going for based on the responses but thougt I'd share!
That being said.... love those cloud of love balloon bouquets!!!

I am with you, although I did do favors but spent less than $2.00 a piece.
For #1 I spent so much time making chocolate flowers and painted the pots only for them to melt in the car while we were in the church. So I didn't put anything out which worked out fine since they had some bud vases on the table. For #2 what ever the restaurant was putting out was enough for me. I rather spend the extra money on plate of apps. for the table or a cheese and procuitto(I butched that spelling ) platter.

We did balloons. We did 4 laytex and one mylar balloon per centerpiece. We had a store do them because it would have been too much for us to do that day. They came out great!

Re: Christening centerpieces? What did you do?
We are doing balloons along with a pink honeycomb style centerpiece from Party City. We were also going to order our balloons from Party City but I just checked out that ny balloon & basket website someone posted on here and their prices are much better, plus they deliver, so I'm going to check them out.
