My mother used to go there. The only way they could have treated her worse would be to start throwing stuff at her. They would cancel appointments and change stylists with no notice - she found out when she got there.

One of my friends had an appointment for a pedicure but the technician only had time to do a polish change but Christie's tried to charge her for a full pedicure since they didn't have a polish change on their price list.

I went there once or twice. I don't recall the price but walked out thinking if they are going to charge a high end salon fee, they should treat their customers like they are in one.

If you are looking for a place in Bayside...
I go to Stephanie at Studio Z now on Bell & 35th Ave (right next to the Mexican restaurant). She does a great job, they are reasonably priced ($50-55ish for a wash/cut/dry) and it's pretty easy to get an appointment.

Re: Christie's Hair Salon in Bay Terrace

we live right over there- so my DH went there for a hair cut

great hair cut

the guy asked if Jake wanted it styled- he said no thanks- I am going home to take a shower

the guy insisted

Jake gave in

and was charged a $7 "styling" fee

how cheesy is that!

I go to Nubest - worth the extra 10 minutes in the car

I used to go there years ago - I loved my colorist, but never got a good cut there and the women at the desk are so nasty.

I went there a few times when I lived over there. The most obnoxious group of women that work that register. I just wonder who they think they are!!!!!

I believe the cuts were ok, but not worth the money or the attitude!

I agree...Studio Z is good...I used Jen a while back she may still be there.

Horrible place! So snotty...they stick you on a coach to rot away!! Then get nasty at you because you DARE ask them what is going on. I don't know why people go there to be treated like that AND the prices are a rip-off! Studio Z is much better.

Re: Christie's Hair Salon in Bay Terrace

I use to go there a long time ago. They were forever changing stylists - everytime I got use to one persons styling - they were gone.
The owner is the most OBNOXIOUS and Rudest person I have ever met in my life.
I knew someone who use to work there and she said that the owner(Christie) treats her employess like garbage - that they aren't allowed to talk to one another while on the floor, they should never not be doing something - amongst other things that I can't remember - hence why you would never have the same stylist for 3 months straight...they couldn't put up with it and they got paid less than their styling abilities were worth.

I've been going to Intercessions on Francis Lewis in Whitestone for the last 5 years...LOVE them...I go to Sandra or Ivory.

Re: Christie's Hair Salon in Bay Terrace

Another nice place not too far away is Hairsay in Garden City Park..another Aveda salon and Christine is so sweet and gives great cuts..good luck!

ETA I used to go to Studio Z but my cutter left...they were nice when I used to go, but it's cash only and a bit pricey for that for me...

That's where I got my last cut and color--I had Ivory and he was GREAT! Previously, I had been going to Studio Z and Eugene always did my cut...love him too!

ETA...I had gone to Christie's for many years and I totally agree...the front desk staff, especially that one older lady, are obnoxious. We're in Bayside, people, not the Upper East Side!

Re: Christie's Hair Salon in Bay Terrace

I went to Christie's once because I had received a gift certificate there.
Without getting into a whole long story, I will just say that I would NEVER go back!
