Christmas breakfast questions
I am having DH's family come for breakfast. Last year for Christmas and this year for Easter & Thanksgiving I made a egg & hashbrown recipe that came out fantastic plus a french toast casserole that was ok. I'm thinking of doing the egg casserole again (because it's easy and everybody loves it) but am looking for something else to do with it. So my questions are:
1) Should I not make the egg casserole since they've all had it several times already? If not, do you have any other suggestions?
2) Any ideas on how to make "Santa" pancakes? Or should I just make snowmen? If I do snowmen, I'll use chocolate chips for buttons and the face. Any other suggestions?
3) Can I make pancake batter the night before and refrigerate it? Will they still come out ok?
4) Where can I get the big, thick breakfast sausages they serve in the diners? I hate the Brown & Serve and the Jones sausages.
TIA

Yes, make it - if it ain't broke, why fix it? Maybe add another ingredient in there to mix it up? Spinach, broccoli, or some cubed cooked ham?
2) Any ideas on how to make "Santa" pancakes? Or should I just make snowmen? If I do snowmen, I'll use chocolate chips for buttons and the face. Any other suggestions?
I think Santa would be easier.. Here's a Santa pancake recipe from my most favorite recipe mag ever.
3) Can I make pancake batter the night before and refrigerate it? Will they still come out ok?
I read on a cooking website, it's not good to make it the night before - can you get all the ingredients together instead - that way you have everything on hand and it won't be that time-consuming?
4) Where can I get the big, thick breakfast sausages they serve in the diners? I hate the Brown & Serve and the Jones sausages.
Try a meat market - tell the counter help exactly what you're looking for (breakfast sausage), they should be able to help you.

Re: Christmas breakfast questions
What is the recipe for the hashbrown casserole?
I say serve it again... everyone likes it, it's easy to make, and it can be like a tradition

Re: Christmas breakfast questions
I have an amazing French Toast recipe - it's from this little restaurant that overlooks the water in San Diego.
You can do all of the preparations the night before, and just grill & bake the morning of. That's what we'll be doing Christmas morning!
FM me if you want the recipe!
