Christmas eve dinner at home

Any ideas on something easy and family friendly just for the 4 of us? We used to host a nice dinner for family but we're under construction and it's just gotten to be too much. I don't want to spend all day cooking but I want something festive.

Go to a good Italian shop and get some awesome big fat homemade ravioli and sauce...some bread...throw together a salad. Easy but different and festive.

Guess I should have mentioned dh is gluten free lol. Thinking maybe I'll just pick up some steaks and do roasted potatoes and veggies. We're also trying to cut bask on dairyChat Icon

Google gluten free holiday meals and browse all the menus and recipes that come up.

because to me christmas eve is also italian and i have many non gluten friendly ideas lol but im sure you can find a lot of good stuff and i always find that looking at the pictures and browsing other menus helps me figure out what i do and def. dont want to serve.

Well then I'm no help, since gluten and cheese are things I would marry if possible!

You could do a nice salad with greens, clementine segments, pecans, pomegranate seeds and (if you are okay with it) goat cheese. That's seasonal and festive. Not sure about main dishes though :( The gluten free world is a little foreign to me.

I'm with you! Maybe I'll splurge on the good gluten free baguette and make garlic bread.

I'm seriously tempted to make the kids a frozen pizza bc my 4yo is so picky.

Christmas eve dinner at home

My coworkers keep raving about the Trader Joe's stuffed lobster tails so I picked some up for Christmas Eve.

Good steaks on the grill are super easy.

Green beans - there are ways to dress these up with almonds or roasted baby tomatoes

Asparagus is usually good this time of year

A good salad. For a festive look, you could add roasted beats and toasted nuts.

I don't usually eat startch but you could add a rice pilaf or mushroom risotto.
