We are having a Christmas party at our house (our first party in our home! )... Any ideas for how to make special?

do hors dourves, instead of a sit down meal.
if it's in your budget (and you have the room for it), see if you can hire musicians to play the background music instead of popping a CD in.

Last year was our first Christmas married and in our home so we had a tree trimming party. It went so well that my friends are asking us if we are doing it again this year. And we got such great ornaments We just served desserts and drinks...spiked apple cider was a big hit!

Re: Christmas party ideas?
We do appetizers and desserts for ours. We have a buffet station with hot and cold appetizers, a fully stocked bar station, and I put out a crockpot of hot apple cider. We have so many people over you can hardly move, but it's really a blast!

I don't have any suggestions but wanted to say YAY! Have a great time having your first party. Did you ever post pics of your house (other than the wonderful ones in your photo albulm?)

No, I couldn't get the kodak gallery link to work. But I can email it to you, if you FM me your email... The pics are from moving day.

Re: Christmas party ideas?
My cousin is hosting again this year. Instead of ordering hero, we are going to do a pot luck type dinner and dessert. Each couple is going to make a dish to share. We also do Secret Santa. So much fun! I cannot wait!

From the evite website:
winter wonderland party drinks Peppermintinis
• 3 parts vodka • 1 part crème de menthe
Fill a shaker with ice, then add ingredients. Shake, strain into martini glasses, then garnish with a mini candy cane.
Non-Alcoholic — Iced Hot Chocolates: whip up an extra-rich batch of your favorite hot chocolate, and pour in a highball glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig.

Re: Christmas party ideas?
We do an open house every year - it started as a brunch in our apartment and that was too much work too early, so it's turned into an open house/cocktail party. I do get some food (ziti, chicken) just so people aren't drinking on an empty stomach.

A mini chocolate fountain would wow the crowd! Could get a little messy though...
