Christmas Photo Packages
I really want to take Emily to either get her photos taken with Santa or for Christmas photos done at a place. She is only 5 weeks old and isn't quite smiling yet, and is honestly fussy a LOT -- but I am hopefully that maybe we could get some good shots. My husband kind of thinks that she's too young for it.
So I have two questions -- did any of you do it this young and how did it come out? Also, how much would I spend about if I go to JC Penny, Sears, or Target for a photo package? We have coupons but do you end up spending a lot more on extras?

Re: Christmas Photo Packages
I'm going to attempt this with Miranda and she is super cranky and fussy. I am just going to hope for the best. I am going to some place that just opened out here and they have a package for $9.95. It won't be a huge waste if it doesn't work out.

Re: Christmas Photo Packages
I plan on taking my kids afeter the Christmas rush. I don't mind if they are not ready for Christmas. I rather get them late then have to deal w. long waits.
If you can stay in the pkg deal you won't spend that much. But they do get you with extras. I know it's hard to say no to a photo of your own child. But, you are better off because what could have been $9.95 Can get up to $200 in a blink of an eye.
Now if you love one particular photo & decide that you want that for your pkg but need more. If you have a scanner you can order them ALOT cheaper from a .com company. That's what I did with the hospital pics. there was no way I was going to pay SO much extra for prints I can make myself.

Re: Christmas Photo Packages
We took Jack to Sears at that age and these were the best two shots we got. I got the 9.99 new mom package of the full legth shot and then a 5x7 sheet of the other shot. I also signed up to be a smile saver so I don't have to pay sitting fees for (I believe 2 years) so for about 50 bucks I was happy with what I got. I knew that down the line if I wanted more I could go on their site and order them.
Now I take him every so often and only let them take a few shots so I only go home with the package and don't spend more then 30 bucks. For example.. I'll take him for Christmas pictures and then go back again for Family Pictures so it will only cost me about 9 or 12 bucks each time instead of buying a ton of pictures at one time :)
It wasen't the most pleasant experience but I wanted pictures of him little. Just try to get the first appointment of the day so you don't have to wait.. we had to wait and he was pretty ****** during his shoot..
For 30 bucks I got 1 5x7, 4 3x5' and 6 wallets at the mall for with Santa but they have small packages. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Christmas Photo Packages
I just wanted to give you one option. My friend took her 2 month old son to see Santa one year at Walt Whitman Mall. By the time she got up to him online, Jake was sleeping. Santa gently lifted him out of his carseat and placed him on his big belly & took a picture of Santa & Jake sleeping. It was probably one of the cutest Christmas pictures I've seen.
Tried to replicate it by walking aroudn the mall until Joseph was asleep but he wouldn't go down for a nap.
So to answer your question, no I don't think she's too young. And best props I still think are Kiddie Kandids.

I took Christopher for pics when he was 1 month old. He slept through the entire thing, but we still got some cute shots.

Re: Christmas Photo Packages
Last year, my daughter was only 10 days old when we took her to have her picture taken with Santa. I think the picture is really cute, although she just looks like this tiny little thing in Santa's arms. It was her first Christmas and I couldn't let it go by without having her picture taken with Santa!
I got the picture taken at the mall and then scanned it to make copies for people and it came out really cute - we used it as our Christmas card last year.

No problem , I'm wondering too! I remember that like 15 years ago when my sister was a baby it was HIGHLY expensive to get prints of your santa photos.

Re: Christmas Photo Packages
Only if you want to buy a photo. Last year I had my camera with me but bought 1- 5x7 so I didn't feel guilty about snapping all of those photos.

Re: Christmas Photo Packages
Did they let you snap photos thuogh? I thought they wouldn't allow that so that you'd have to buy them.

Re: Christmas Photo Packages
If I remember correctly some malls let you and some dont... For infant pics I took my son to Olan mills (inside Kmart).. I LOVE their first year pics that they do.. They have great positions and can really catch your little one.. Theres usally a coupon in the paper, like in the coupon book section.. and Online..
The coupon I got is One 8x10, 2 5x7s, 8 wallets, six greeting cards-Bonus 8 wallets and a 10x13 For $4.95!!!! If you are a Club memeber I think its the same price anywhere about $20-40 (dont quote me on that one, lol) and the reprints are affordable and the photo cards are GREAT!.. If I can find the pics of my son I have on the computer.. I will send them your way!
HTH!

Re: Christmas Photo Packages
These were my photo cards and a couple of pics from Olan mills.. The first one he is a baby.. (like seriously 5 days old).. The second has his easter pic, (about 5 weeks-bottom left) and 2 of his six month pics. He was born in March.. jsut to give you an idea.. the thing is tho that my son was born over 10lbs.. If your little one is 5weeks, chances are the first one would be closer to what you'd get Not like my little brut!!

Those are great pics! I had never seen Olan Mills ones before so it gives me something else to think about.
Emily was 9lbs 10 oz when born and is about 11 1/2 now at 5 weeks so I'm sure her pics wouldn't be much different size wise!

Yes they did - at least at Walt Whitman last year they did...oh & my celebrity sighting while waiting on line was Cathy Moriarty with her twins.

The cheapest package I saw at Smith Haven was $21. Sun Vet Mall is not too great (polaroid pictures) but they are only $6. My son didn't want to go near Santa the last 2 years so it was just my daughter in the picture. I don't want to spend alot and have him freak out and only have one of them in the picture.
