Re: Christmas present idea / Buddha
Is your cousin a Buddhist? Honestly, its not something I would do for someone who isn't truly interesting in learning about Buddhism. We went to a tibetan temple and the gift shop had so many beautiful Buddha statues, but I told DH that unless he was interesting in really learning about Buddhism, I thought it was disrespectful. Its like have a cross or crucifix in your home because it looks cool.
What I would do is perhaps by some books on Buddhism or Buddha statues. If you want to buy a Buddha, you should get her a book about Buddhism and what each Buddha symbolizes. There are so many Buddha statutes that mean so many different things.

If you are looking for really good books on Buddhism that is user friendly and can be easily understood by a layperson, let me know!
They do sell a lot of house stuff with Buddhas on it - it is kind of trendy... we have a lot of beautiful Buddha statues from Thailand, but we practice Buddhism....
