Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
What did all of you do for Christmas when you had a baby regarding presents? DH thinks it's a waste to get presents this year for DS because he will only be 4 months old and won't remember, can't open presents, and can't even play with toys for that matter and I agree with his points but at the same time, he's my little boy, first baby and it's Christmas you can't NOT get presents lol.
What did you girls do?

My DS was 2 months old when Christmas rolled around. I got him a few small things, nothing much. Just to put some things under the tree.
Extended family spoiled him rotten

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
DD was 4 months at her first Christmas and DS was 1 month.
We got each of them small toys, clothes, stuff that they would need/use in the upcoming months (maybe toys for 6 months and up?). DS got a new playmat since I didn't really like the one we had for DD. I wrapped up diapers for DD

DS was 2 months old when x-mas came around. Each of us bought him something on our own, a stuffed animal, and wrapped it and we didn't know what each other got.
He also got some clothes and some rattles. The rest of our family went a little nuts.

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
My DD was 3 months old for her first Xmas. I bought her rattles and teethers, squishy books, a stuffed animal, and some infant toys for ages 6m and up. She had no clue of course but I was so excited to wrap presents for her that I didn't care. It was so much fun!

DD was 3 months last hanukkah. We got her some stuff for when she was older. Family gave her bonds/stocks. She also got an american girl doll. When she is older she will get it.

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
I saved a bunch of toys I got for my shower that she won't be ready for until then -- I am going to wrap them up for Christmas morning.
I am pretty sure the amount of toys she will receive from our families will make me want to vomit.
DH and I decided to put $1000 in her bank account for the next few Christmases, until she is old enough to expect stuff.

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
DD#1 was 2 months old - we got her a stuffed animal
DD#2 will be 8 months. I'll probably only get 1 or 2 things for her.

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
DD was 1.5 months old at Christmas last year, and she got ton's of gifts...
I got her stuff for throughout the year, so you can constantly open new things to entertain them.
Like right now as I type away, she is playing with her Laugh and Learn farm which she got for Christmas LY! But we didn't take it out until 6 months.

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
I got a few small toys and then I made him (well painted) a beautiful toy chest. But, everyone else got him toys. A lot of stuff for the upcoming summer. It was fun. Just don't go overboard because, yeah he won't remember. But, I agree you gatta do something. I put things in his stocking like sippy cups and stuff that he would use later. Maybe binkies. Liam had fun with the wrapping paper. LOL

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
Well my girls were 6 and 7 months at Christmas - so I got them 6-12 month toys. At 4 months no they won't be playing with a ton of toys - but your DC will be 6 months shortly and will be. I would get a couple of things for 6 months - your DC can open them and you can put them away for a month or two if you feel that they aren't ready for them. But you will want some toys for that age range and then you will have to buy them then- why not just use it as a chance to get some of those toys now. I wouldn't go crazy but a couple of things won't hurt.

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
For both of my boys the first Christmas there were a few age appropriate toys and a few for upcoming months under the tree and clothing.

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
I think some of the ideas above are great and will be doing the same....putting money into savings, a few toys for them when they're older, and a first Christmas ornament.

Re: Christmas Presents and a 4 month old
We did not get them anything except ornaments(which we will do every year) These said Baby's First Christmas with a picture frame. I also took pics of them in Santa hats. I would also suggest casting their hand and footprint. I'm pretty sure you can get those in ornament form
