I use all different kinds. We have alot of "animated ornaments". Alot of Disney, Wizard of Oz, etc. But we have alot of BALLS too.

Re: Christmas Tree Ornaments...
allllll different.
We have a lot of ornaments from places we've been (S.C., Vegas, etc), things we've done, things we love (like a Mets snowman, buzz lightyear!), etc

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
You can go with a theme, or just mix it up. Over the years, you will collect ornaments. DH and I buy each other one every Christmas.

I have a mix of ornaments, all kinds. I buy them after Christmas and get the good deals.
We also started a tradition of only buying ornaments when we're on vacation. I was so sick of all of the tshirts and other dumb crap that you buy when you're away that just collect dust.

Maybe your mom will pass some of those down to you.

Ornaments have become our favorite souvenior too--and a lot of people know that I love ornaments with a "story" I like to take out ornaments and say to DH "oh do you remember when......" and then he laughs at me for being such a sap!!

Re: Christmas Tree Ornaments...
We have a collection of hand-painted glass balls that we have bought together throughout our relationship. It's fun to reminisce about places/events we have been to together when we put up our tree each year.
Each year, we also buythe Swarovski crystal ornament. We have one for every year we have been together.

Re: Christmas Tree Ornaments...
We have a mish mash of ornaments and thats how I like it. Perhaps your mom will pass some onto you?
My mom does 2 trees - 1 all perfect purple and silver balls, that looks like it belongs in a store and another small tree that has all ornaments my sister and I made or bought when we were kids.

Re: Christmas Tree Ornaments...
We have green & red balls, the yearly Swarovski snowflake, and assorted other things we've gotten over the years. Santa, reindeer, Star Wars things.
This year I went a little nuts. I bought two ornaments for DH as stocking stuffers, another for our first Christmas as a married couple, and I'm participating in the ornament swap too!

Re: Christmas Tree Ornaments...
Lots of different ones.
We make sure to get an ornament anytime we travel anywhere. It's a fun way to remember the year.
