Cindy Margolis poses for Playboy in the name of Infertility

Got this email from RESOLVE today:

As you may know, Cindy Margolis, the Internet icon, supermodel, actress, author and mother of three via assisted therapies, has served as RESOLVE’s national spokesperson for the past 18 months.

Cindy recently informed us that she decided to pose for Playboy magazine, and will be appearing in the December 2006 issue. She was interviewed for an accompanying article and her photo was selected to be on the cover. Cindy is calling her appearance in the magazine “Posing for a Purpose,” that “purpose” being to increase awareness about infertility and the needs of those facing family building challenges.

While Cindy was motivated for career reasons to pose for Playboy, she has conveyed to us that she felt it was also important to her that RESOLVE be highlighted and support for our efforts be encouraged. Toward that end, Cindy volunteered to contribute a percentage of her magazine sales commission to RESOLVE. We have not seen an advance copy of the issue; however, Cindy has told us that in her interview with Playboy, she talked about her personal experience with infertility and her work with RESOLVE.

Cindy is a caring, compassionate and dedicated spokesperson for our organization and has done much to advance awareness and understanding of infertility. In June, she and her husband, Guy, hosted a fundraising party in Los Angeles, and donated $25,000 to RESOLVE.

While Cindy’s career decisions are her own, we are grateful for her ongoing support of RESOLVE and the infertility community.

While I applaud the idea, do we REALLY think that the message is going to get to the men that read that magazine?

And suddenly they are going to be aware that infertility is an issue?

The people who really need to know this are the politicians and people in power and few of them are going to *admit* to reading Playboy. It's against family values.

That being said, can't wait until DH's black wrapped issue comes so I can read it!!

I think it's more that the proceeds will be donated in part to Resolve...

Nothin' like gettin' naked for a cause. I'm glad she's bringing some awareness, though. Good for her.

If I had a body like hers I would do my food shopping naked. I don't think that she has ever posed nude before, although she's been asked. That's why it was such a big deal that she was the most downloaded woman on the internet, she always had a bikini or something on. Well I guess now she's leaving nothing to the imagination, and for a great cause. Good for her!
