CIO Question... sorta. Waking up very close to wake-up time.

So, we started doing CIO again-- this time, full on.

Sasha basically makes it to 4 or 5 now. Which is great-- but, we want her to make it longer. Especially since she really needs her nighttime sleep since she is such a poor napper. Also when she wakes up for "good", she isn't hungry. I'd rather her sleep longer during the "night", then wake up and eat, etc.

Also, in following Healthy Sleep Habits, etc., you should leave them in their cribs, and not get them before 6AM.

So, when she wakes up at like 4 30-- she can go back to sleep eventually, then keeps waking up on and off and basically then just cries until I can't take it anymore-- and it's as close to 6 as I can muster up the strength to wait. I feel like eventually she will get that she has to wait until actual wake-up time to eat, etc., but is this what I should be doing? Any advice?

Re: CIO Question... sorta. Waking up very close to wake-up time.

So im understanding correctly, she is going until about 4am without waking to eat? If so thats great!

If you feed her at 4am will she go back to bed, or will she think its time to get up for the day??

Ive read that book, and from what I gathered it said to leave them until 6am before getting them up for the day, BUT it said that 1-2 wakes during the night for feeding is normal.

So im thinking if she is sleeping straight to 4am without waking or eating, she is probably hungry.

My advice is to try feeding her at 4am and see if she goes right back to sleep. If after the feeding she doesnt not go back to bed, I would put her in the crib until about 6am so she understands she can eat but its not time to get up.

Chloe is 6 months old as well... and we are still struggling with the sleep issues because every night is so random. But, on a good night, she will go to sleep at 7, wake up at 3 or 4 , eat and then go back to sleep till 7. She isn't a napper either... 30-40 min cat naps.

I have done CIO with my son...he is 6 moths now...

Like Sasha, he was waking up early but close to 6. I used to pick him up, but then it got earlier and earlier.

Now I pick him up at 6...sometimes he cries and falls back asleep and sometime he stays up and waits...

ugh, i remember this phase with DD#1...

what i did is what you are doing. if it's 4:00/4:30 i would let her CIO. if she starts up again at 5:30-6:00, i would get her and start the day... the 6:00 mark is a guideline, DD#1 woke up at 5:30 to start her day for the LONGEST time and that was just her way of doing things...

I hired a sleep trainer and i am on a seriously strict schedule for naps and feeding everything...they told me, dont go in a second before the 12 hour mark at night....do this for 2 weeks straight...so 7pm bed, 7am up....my daughter screamed this am for an hour but went back down and we had to wake her..so, if she goes past the 7am we have a half hour window...
