Cities to visit between Rome and Munich?

Going back to Europe in September and I don't know a THING about Italy/Germany/etc.

We are flying into Rome, and flying back home from Munich (going to Oktoberfest.)

We have about 4 nights in between to play with...

Any cities in between (geographically) you would recommend? Please share!

Re: Cities to visit between Rome and Munich?

what about making your way upward and going to the Como Region, followed by Southern Switerland, then ending in Zurich before heading over to Munich.

this is probably what I would do.

I did part of this trip last summer, and in fact, we almost took a side trip to Munich for a beer Chat Icon

enjoy. I am jealous. I wish I could just travel my entire life away!!!!!

I was looking at a map and Zurich intrigued me... good tips.

I think this may be our one last "shabang" before we TTC... then our thrice yearly trips aboard will have to calm down...Chat Icon

Thanks for the advice!

Zurich is an awesome city!!! My friend moved there and it's a blast

you might also want to think about Vienna (mozart, opera) and Salzburg (sound of music) in Austria

Since it will be warm the Bodensee (Lake Konstanz) is beautiful.

If you want to make another stop in Italy I'd strongly recommend Florence (although a little west for your path from Rome to Munich) or Venice. Plus the northern lakes on the Swiss border are beautiful - Como, Maggiore, Lugano (Lugano is on the Swiss side and you can see the alps).

I would love to go to Salzburg.

I am very jealous of your trip! You really can't go wrong wherever you choose to go!
