It's not nice per se but there are plenty of seafood restaurants and the seafood is great!

I've been to Lobster Box and Tito Puente's a few times in City Island. No complaints.

I hear ya- this is our last summer with having a boat- my Dad joined freedom boat club- then left NY- leaving the last 2 years of the membership to me
so this is the last summer- and next summer we are planning on buying a house boating is the only outdoor activity I can get my DH to do- but we do plan on buying a boat- I just refuse to buy one until we own a house

Re: City Island in the Bronx?
as a previous resident of the bronx, other than le refuge and portofino i do not recommend any other restaurants in city island (i have been to many of them - crab shanty, sea shell, lobster box)

freeport, Port Jeff, City Island, and Some place on the south shore of suffolk
they have them all over the country
you pay a hefty fee- then you can reserve boats- all you pay for is gas- after you pay the fee
worked out well for us- since my Dad paid to join-

this a fee for a certain amount of years- then $600 per year plus gas- it's not a bad deal considering (FM me and I will tell you the fee my Dad paid)
