City of NY Employees with GHI/IF Testing..
Just a small Public Service Announcement...
If you are going for IVF...PGD testing is covered by GHI for City of New York Employees!!!
Found that out on Friday at Dr. Braverman's when I went for my consult on Friday afternoon.
RSofNY told me I wasn't covered. I should have called but I took their word for it, definitely my mistake.
For future, call you insurance company yourself to find out completely about your coverage!

Thanks for the info. I haven't made any inquiries to them yet because I am only up to the consult. How are they in covering infertility? Do they pick up a good portion of the test costs or have you paid alot out of pocket?

Great news!
I was told by the RE I was seeing at the time when I did PGD it wasn't covered. I submitted the claim forms anyway and it was covered and I got a good amount back. I have BCBS.

Also, if you aren't sure, call the insurance company. Do not rely on the doctors office no matter how much they tell you they are the experts!

I agree with this 100%, I was told a few times that something wasn't covered and when I double checked with the insurance it was. Each sector of employment with NYC/NYS is different and some may cover things that others don't. The only way to know 100% for sure is to call the insurance company yourself.

There may also varying plans within the city. My DH has a different plan than union workers. My DH is management and not a union employee.
