Classes at Stonybrook..can anyone help please?
I applied for my professional certification and they said I am 4 classes short bc I took classes outside of my area of certification ( my certifications are birth to grade 6 both general and special ed). So I signed up for one class and waitlisted on another (I'm also taking 2 classes face to face so I don't want to do 4 classes right now with working at a new school etc). The 2 classes are Building Effective Schools and Curriculum: Tools for Effective Classroom Management. Do you think either of these would go toward my area of certification? If you had to keep one, which would you keep? Thanks so much!!!

Yes they will! I took them for my masters online and they worked! I think that for general ed and special ed...since we teach a multitude of topics they will count.
I have some books if you need them.

i don't know what classes would count or not, but i would seriously consider contacting your academic advisor or someone in the education dept. at stoneybrook before you register for classses to check that they not only meet the requirements for state certification, but for your degree from the school.

I would contact the State Ed. Department. They actually have ideas on their site for plans to get your credits.
