Cleaning a hard to clean gas stove top

I have this stove:

External Image

And the top is EXTREMELY hard to clean. It's ridiculously hard to get any spilled messes up from the burners, so as a result the top of the stove always looks grimy. I hate this stove and can't wait until we have the money to get another one, but we are stuck with this for the foreseeable future.

Can anyone recommend a cleaning product or technique for cleaning a hard to clean gas range?

Brillo will scratch the crap out of the stove.

I use baking soda and warm water to clean the burnt on parts. Make a little paste, let it sit and then wipe away with a sponge. Repeat if necessary.
The pans and grates are soaked in hot water with a lot of baking soda and dish soap.

If you can get it, Bon Ami is another good scouring powder that does not scratch at all.

For regular cleaning I use Windex. It is the best at getting up greasy residues and makes the stove shine. It works better than 409 or Fantastic which both tend to leave streaks.

How about a handheld steamer??? I use this one on my stove, I like to clean with as few chemicals as possible, esp in the kitchen. It's a little heavy but it does a good job!

Ok, i zoomed in, not the same as mine. I have an additional grill in the middle. If you take up the grates its really easy to clean.

I have this stove and I put all the pieces that come up (12 pieces in all) in the dishwasher and they come out great...i cannot get it nearly as clean if I hand wash them..so I spot clean after each dinner and put them in the dishwasher at least once a week!

Magic Eraser is the only thing that works for us.

I have this stove too. For the really hard stuff, I use Dawn Power Dissolver and then follow up with Fantastik

Mine is almost identical ( mine is stainless behind the knobs and handle on bottom drawer) it is a GE and have no issues.

Do you clean it after every use? We use either fantastic or soap and a sponge. Finish with some pledge.

I did the baking soda thing today and now I have a white film all over the part I was cleaning that won't come off!!!

I'm going to buy Fantastick when I go to the store. I tried everything else.

I have a gas stove that we were never able to clean well at all. I just resigned myself to having a stove top that had stuff burnt on it-I would clean and clean, scrub and scrub and nothing worked-I tried it all, magic eraser, fantastic, simply green, soft scrub etc etc. Well my husband found a product that works, it is called Weimans gas range cleaner. It is a spray, he found it in the aisle with carpet cleaner, heavy duty cleaner. It is worth a trip to the grocery store, my stove has never been so clean!

Good to know! I too have "settled" for what is not clean enough for me. I'll look for this product and give it a try!

In the past, I've tried Soft Scrub but it does leave some scratches if you're not careful.
