I was reading online and doing some research and the EPA recommends you not clean them  They mention the chemicals they use to clean them...not knowing if the chemicals they use are more harmful being blown through the air vents than what would be found in there. Another thing is they say you can never really truely get them clean...if their is mold, etc. in there the problem is only going to return.
