Cleaning Hard Wood Floors?
We just got new hardwood floors and I am unsure of how to clean them. We sweep them eveyr day, but there are spots from when the dogs come inside and when they drool. I know mopping is a no no, but I am not sure what else to do.
Thanks!

I use a hardwood floor cleaner from Homedepot, called Bruce's Hardwood floor cleaner. It smells nice and works great I love it. I also purchased the mop thingy from them and it works great too

Re: Cleaning Hard Wood Floors?
i mop w/ ivory soap and water or white vinegar and water. water is fine as long as you wring the mop and the floor isn't saturated. dry swifter or vacuum inbtwn mopping.

same here.
I prefer running the vacuum over the floors (canister vac works best on wood floors as opposed to uprights) over using the swiffer. I feel like the swiffer just moves dirt around and will eventually scratch the floors as a result.

Re: Cleaning Hard Wood Floors?
Thanks I will go to home depot and get that stuff. Do you get it in the flooring section or the cleaning supplies section?

Re: Cleaning Hard Wood Floors?
My floor refinisher suggested plain water on a mop. My housekeeper likes Murphy Oil Soap so that's what we use.

I bought the Orange Glo hardwood floor cleaner kit from Home Depot. It's good for in-between cleanings. Other than that I use Murphy's also.

Standing water is a no-no on hardwood floors... you need to either spray the mop head (microfiber) so it's damp but not saturated and/or dry the floors immediately.
You cannot leave water standing on a hardwood floor like you would on tile.
I vacuum, Swiffer, spray microfiber mop head with a solution of one part white vinegar to three parts water.

Re: Cleaning Hard Wood Floors?
which ever cleaner you use, do a test patch the first time. mom bought the swiffer for hardwood floors (to remove minor cat and plant marks), and that cleaner left a milky film on her dark hardwood floors
