cleaning lady prices
So I had a cleaning lady come to give me an estimate yesterday. I got her info from my friend who lives in the same neighborhood. She quoted me at $120. We have two floors, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, small kitchen, dining room and living room. I sent her a text this morning saying we would love to have her clean for us, but would she be willing to do it for $100. Was this wrong of me? I know she quoted my friend $100 (she has a smaller house), but then she went down to $80. This made me feel like it was okay to at least try to get a lower price. Is $100 a fair price though for my size house?

Weekly? That seems like a lot. I don't see anything wrong with negotiating.

I pay 100 for a home with a 3br/2ba, small kitchen, dining and family room.
My girlfriend across the street pays 125 for a 4ba/4br home with a kitchen that is more than double the size of mine. The cleaning person started out at 150 and my girlfriend brought her down to 125.

We must be getting a steal . . . Our guy and his crew does our house for $85 bi weekly. We have 3 br, 3.5 bath, large eat in kitchen, dining room, living room, great room, finished basement, all hardwoods that get polished.
I don't know if your lady is high or my guy is just really cheap. I don't think it's wrong to negotiate prices, I'm sure DH did when we hired our guy.

we pay $90 every other week.... 3 bedrooms, 2 baths (one the shower is never really used so they don't clean it every time), LR, DR, small-ish kitchen, basment and laundry room/office area.
Right now its just the 2 of us and we are at work alot, so the house really does not get dirty and there is not alot of clutter. We joke all the time that we are their easiest job and we probably pay too much... but the baby will be here in a couple months!

I think that seems high..... I pay $100 a week for 5bd/4bath, LR, DR, FR, kitchen. We live in NJ but in an area similar to LI.
For what you described I would pay $75-$80 a week

We pay $90 every other.
1st floor - open floor plan - LR, DR, kitchen, 1/2 ba
2nd floor - 4 br/2 ba
Your price sounds really high.

we pay 120 every other week - they bring all "green" products which is important with a toddler and cat/dog. Its a decent sized house. 4 beds, 2 baths, LR, DR, Kitchen, den, basement etc. They do a great job!

$120 sounds high. For comparison, our house is approx 4,000 sq feet. 6 bedooms, 3 full baths, 1 1/2 bath, very large kitchen, family room, living room, dining room, play room, etc.... I pay $150 every 2 weeks. There are about 4 people who clean and it takes about 3 hours. I supply all the cleaning products.
