Cleaning natural stone
What do you use to clean your granite countertops?
Also, if you have natural stone in your bathroom (like tumbled travertine or marble) what do you use to clean it?

Re: Cleaning natural stone
I use a stone cleaner that my builder gave us when we closed on our home. It's called Stonetech. I have granite countertops in both the kitchen and bathrooms and I have tumbled marble in the kitchen/bathroom and travertine throughout the house. So we go through alot of it. It doesn't build up and it works great. It doesn't make it look dull or cloudy looking like some of the other cleaners do.
BTW, I was told NOT to use water and vinegar on any of it because it'll make it lose it's shine.

Re: Cleaning natural stone
Thanks Bicosi, that is helpful.
I'm starting to get a little nervous about going with natural stone for the bathroom because I'm reading all this stuff about cleaning and maintenance.
So can I ask you - is it a pain and expensive to have to use special cleaners?
Also - does it feel "clean" with stone cleaner you use?
I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to cleaning the bathroom. I love the bleachy disinfected smell when I clean the bathroom because it makes me feel like it's REALLY clean... I know I can't use those products if we go with natural stone. The thought of being able to only use hotwater and a sponge (like I've been reading) terrifies me!

LOL The key really is to make sure that the stone is sealed! So long as it's sealed, then cleaning/maintenance will be very easy.
I'm a maniac with cleaning too. I have always liked having the bathrooms bleached/scrubbed with soft scrub and Comet as well LOL
I have a very light (almost beige colored) tumbled marble in the bathroom, so I'll spray the shower before I go in and then I do put a brush to it when I'm taking a shower so there that I get it reallly clean.
I moved into my house in September of 2007 and I still haven't finished the big bottles of the stuff.
