Cleaning Person
For those of you who have someone clean your house on a regular basis, do you mind sharing how much you pay, how many rooms you have and what they do. I want to ensure the quotes I receive our in-line with what's others are paying. I'd also be happy to take recommendations for who I should use. I live in Wading River which is out east a bit.
TIA, -Dennis

Re: Cleaning Person
I have 2 girls -- I hired one but now she brings a friend to finish faster.
Our house is a multi-level split. They come once a week. They clean : Master bedroom guest room, office, full bath Kitchen, living, dining room and hallway Den Office and half bath in basement
I have a dog so there is a lot of dog hair, but no kids, and DH and I are pretty neat.
She charges $60/week. I think it is a good price for this area (Seaford/Wantagh) and they do a great job. Only here about 2 hours, so I guess 4 hours of work get done. The guest room and study just get light dusting and vaccuum, unless we are expecting guest.
Hope that helps!!

Re: Cleaning Person
4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, kitchen, halls, living room, dining room, gym, pantry (last two rooms quick cleaning) - I have one person who charges $16/hour. Takes about 5 hours typically. I supply cleaning products.
Previously, I used a cleaning service and I was paying about $95 plus tax for only 3 bedrooms and all of above. Then it was 2 people, in 2 hours and they brought all products unless I liked something special.
This was both for every other week. Prices can vary depending if you do weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.

Re: Cleaning Person
$70 - every other week. Small house - basically 5 rooms & a finished basement. She does our laundry - which we've asked her NOT to do, but she still does. Our conversations after she comes usually go like this :
DH "Do you know where my work pants are?" ME: "No, I haven't seen them. I think I saw Delsi wearing them" DH "Don't be a wiseass. Please help me find my pant." ME: "I can't I'm looking for the sweater she cleaned and the kids' clothes"
She also stacks our coins up by denomination.

Re: Cleaning Person
I just found a great cleaner- she charges $80- I have no idea how long she is there- we are both gone during the day- she does a GREAT job- we also are pretty neat and just have dog hair (a very fluffy collie!). We have 3 bedrooms and 1 and a half bath- LR and DR and kitchen...we are in E.Northport. She is the only reliable person I've found- I tried other companies and they wouldn't show up all of the time- right now we have her come once a month.
If one of us gets a raise I'm upping it to twice a month!!

Your house seems similiar to mine.
Thank you all for your responses. I have some people lined up to come by early next week. Thanks to you all, I now have a better idea of the price range I'll be looking at.

Re: Cleaning Person
We pay $65 every 2 weeks. IMO she does not do a great job its just ok. She does the bare min. More than half our house is all brand new now so there isn't a lot of heavy cleaning.

Re: Cleaning Person
wow...I always thought a cleaning person would cost so much more $$$
I think I need to get one...so that I can spend less time cleaning the toilets and more time with my son

This is why we had one - and want another. I'm busy during the week and want to spend time with the kids in the evening and weekends - not dusting, cleaning, etc.
