Clomid and HCG Trigger
Hopefully someone can answer this:
When on clomid is it common for an RE to give a hcg trigger also. I ask this b/c I wonder is it possible, without a trigger, if you have more than one mature follicle...are they all released or just one?
kwim?
I'm just curious b/c I'm researching clomid now as I believe that this is my next step in this process....

Re: Clomid and HCG Trigger
My time at Rs, ...I had multiple follies at O time and was never given a trigger. I requested one but was constantly told my LH surged and they rather it happen naturally than with a trigger.
I do believe you can ovulate from multiple follies however, I believe the hcg trigger gives the body a boost in progesterone and allows it to prepare for pg. The trigger gives you more of a chance of multiple follies ovulating...and timing can be better. This of course is just my opinion.

Re: Clomid and HCG Trigger
Either way multiple eggs can be released, depending on the estradoil levels. I do believe there is more of a chance of them releasing with a hcg trigger

Re: Clomid and HCG Trigger
Multiple eggs can always be released. Anything over an 18mm follie can be mature. Two or more can always release on their own, and an LH surge naturally is better then a trigger based on all I have read. I have had a trigger twice based mostly on scheduling issues and once because I was not surging but the follie was getting way too large.

I have read differently on the trigger. Some clinics instead of giving progesterone suppositories are actually giving women hcg booster shots during their 2ww, as well as triggers.
However, you are right, Donna, most REs administer triggers to just assure timing.
In my case my follies were really getting large. If a follie is over 26mm it's harder to fertilize. I was disappointed in not getting the trigger.
I guess I always look at things from an immune standpoint because I feel that's the category I am in.
