closing on two different days, so when do we move in?
we are closing on thursday .. the seller is closing on their other home on friday. they told us that they are moving on saturday.
i wanted to move in on saturday. i suppose there is no reason we can't "cross paths" on saturday, is there?
i have to move my stuff from storage INTO the home, they are moving their stuff FROM the house into another place.
this could work, couldn't it?
ETA: how did you do it?

Re: closing on two different days, so when do we move in?
They have the legal right to stay there for 5 days after they close (most likely), so it's not really your choice.
I wouldn't bother crossing paths. You will need to do another walkthrough after they get out to make sure there was no damage.
I would just wait to move until you can get a clear look at the place empty.
Good luck!

i would wait until it's empty because they might carry out one of your boxes. Plus your going to have to do some cleaning up before putting boxes in.

Re: closing on two different days, so when do we move in?
We were able to move in when the sellers were 100% out. They had to be out by 12 pm on the Saturday (5 days after we closed). We had it agreed upon in our contract/closing.
They were pulling out as we pulled in.

Re: closing on two different days, so when do we move in?
Definitely wait until they are out! You'll want to clean the place before u start bringing your stuff in. Even if the place looks "spotless" now, it's probably not so you'll need to clean.
Plus, if they have a delay w/ their movers, u don't want to sit around waiting for them to get out.
Sorry---I know u probably just want to get in ASAP!

Re: closing on two different days, so when do we move in?
What we did was close on a Friday and then the people moved their stuff out Saturday Morning. Once they were done we went to the house to get the keys and make sure everything was gone. I cleaned the house and then we moved our stuff in. It can be done on the same day but you have to coordinate it with the people moving out. I would not move stuff in while they are moving stuff out because you def want to do another walk thru and clean.
