Cloth Diapering Virgin. Question About Washing...

I've started cloth diapering my kids when they're home and am completely clueless about some things...

1. Do I need a wet bag?

2. How am I supposed to be washing them? Also, how often?

I have a mix of GroBaby AIOs and GDiapers. So far loving GroBaby more! I wish I started cloth diapering earlier!

I'm sure these questions have been posted before, but I wasn't having much luck with the search function on here. TIA!

i use wet bags - i wash every three or 4 days but i use liners too now that he is on solid food so his diapers are not that dirty

i just throw the diapers in a cold soak cycle then a hot wash with a little soap then in the dryer

on cotton babies - they have wet/dry bags that hang from a door knob - i started with those - i now use them for day care - and i have a pail and the cheaper large red bags for home - i recomend getting two - i throw one in the laundry every time i do a wash

Re: Cloth Diapering Virgin. Question About Washing...

I have wahmies pail liners--I just bought a kitchen garbage pail and put the liner in--that way when I throw everything in the laundry I don't have to touch any diapers. You need a wet bag for your diaper bag, that way you have a place to put wet/dirty diapers.
My wash goes like this:
cold rinse
hot wash w/Tide Original powder (barely to the 1 line)
dry
Once a month I do an extra wash on warm with sensiclean and when it's nice out I try to dry them outside in the sun
HTH!

Thanks for answering my questions. When I told DH about the diaper liners and the pail liners he seemed willing to give it a go. He's afraid of cloth because of cleaning poop and I think you ladies just might have convinced him that it's not that bad! Chat Icon
