clothes to wear after having a c section..
i plan on having a c-section and Im wondering which type of underwear will be best to not bother the staples/stitches while in the hospital and for recovery? What about pajamas? I dont want anything to rub up against the incision. Im just trying to pack the right things in my hospital bag.. thanks!

I bought granny panties and plain black yoga type pants that were a bigger size then I normally wore. When wearing your underwear the nurse told me to put a maxi pad across the top that would rest against my incision. That really helped alot. I personally didn't want to wear a nightgown with everyone visiting.

I would plan on bringing maternity underwear and maternity pants. You will need them for a couple of weeks after the section.

I brought maternity underwear and soft-paneled (ie maternity) sweats for the hospital (I'm not a fan of nightgowns, esp with people visiting). They worked fine. Not sure if all hospitals do it but NSUH gave chuck to use with the pads. If you keep the chuck high enough, the cotton-y part covers the incision and protects it from your clothes irritating it.

For me, any kind of underwear that did not end right at the same spot as the incision. Higher was a bit easier but not totally necessary. For pants, drawstring were great.

I would say higher underware (maternity) that won't cut where your incision will be is the most comfortable. I wore a dress only b.c I didn't want anything rubbing on my incision - but a loose maternity pants or skirt would be fine too - just keep in mind you don't want anything rubbing on that area.

I wore granny panties and nightgowns. I am not a huge fan of nightgowns but they helped so much when they came in to check on my incision. When I had guests, I was usually sitting in bed with a sheet on my legs or I had my bathrobe on.
I don't think I would have been able to bend to put pants on....
