Clothing: newborn vs. 0-3 months
My carter's newborn outfits measures the same size as the 0-3 months outfits. I am trying to find an additional coming home outfit in newborn size. I do have some outfits newborn size that do measure a bit smaller, but not anything I want to bring her home in.
Any suggestions? I have heard that some 0-3 month outfits swim on newborns.

BRU has preemie clothing. I don't know if that is an option or not. My son was 8 lbs, 7 oz and the newborn clothes were big on him at first, then he grew into 3-6 month quickly!

We got a 0-3 onesie made by Ralph Lauren at Bloomingdales for $3.50. I held it up to the Carter's 0-3 onesies we have and it is a lot smaller.

Re: Clothing: newborn vs. 0-3 months
DS was born 6lbs 10oz & needed preemie clothes. (he is long & slender, so everything swam on him. He is at 7weeks, still in some preemie clothes & mostly NB (carters being one of the brands). He is currently 9lbs.

Re: Clothing: newborn vs. 0-3 months
my DS was 7 lbs and newborn clothes was/still are swimming on him and he's already over his birth weight (although prob only by a couple ounces). he is also long and slender (he was 21 inches at birth) i had gotten so many 0-3 clothing for the summer and will be returning a lot of them, thank god i decided not to wash everything before he was born. and forget the 3-6 stuff (thats what most people gave us as gifts, b/c they always recc going a size up, however it really depends on the baby). for the summer i will also be exchanging that too

Re: Clothing: newborn vs. 0-3 months
DS was 6 lbs 8 oz and even the newborn sizes were HUGE on him, forget the 0-3 mos sizes. I ended up putting him in Gerber Just Born onesies and I know preemie outfits would have fit him. At 3 wks, and weighing 7 lbs 8 oz, he's still in newborn and just fitting into 0-3 mos. How are you feeling???

Getting nervous! But in a good way.
DH and I went and did a little shopping tonight and every single thing we are finding in newborn is so close in size to 0-3 months. Could that be right? And so far anything preemie says it only goes up to 5 lbs. But I don't know how accurate that is. Tonight we went to BRU, Burlington and Kohl's. I think tomorrow we'll hit some others

I know CHildrens Place and Gap have some clothes that are for up to 7 lbs. That is different from their preemie clothing...

Re: Clothing: newborn vs. 0-3 months
donna, i am finding the same thing. bought several newborn size stretchies today thinking that i would need them when he is first born rather than 0-3 months. now i am comparing the two and they look the same size - HUGE! unless my baby is big, a la waterspout , i think he will be swimming in all of these.
what did you do? are you buying preemie stuff?? greg keeps telling me that we should just WAIT and see how big he is and then run out and get stuff. but that idea is KILLING the planner in me...

I wanted something smaller "in case" to bring her home in. We ended up with an adorable outfit from Bloomingdales. But I still brought one of the outfits I already had at home to do a comparison with. Many NB and 0-3 all seem to be the same size when measuring. I did see some cute outfits in Janie and Jack which were preemie size. I didn't want to buy too much so I made some mental notes.
Depending on the size and weight she's born at and if she gets clothing when she's born (which my family is famous for doing) I didn't want to have too much. But at least I can ask a family member to run and get the items for me if I need them

Re: Clothing: newborn vs. 0-3 months
Definitely don't go by the weight on the clothing because I've found they're hardly ever accurate. As long as you have onesies and a few newborn outfits to put her in, you should be fine with clothing until you can get some more if needed. Let me know if you need anything!
